ARLINGTON, Texas – Under the bright lights of AT&T Stadium for the annual Military Appreciation Night, the seventh round of the 2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship delivered a historic night of racing. For weeks, the narrative surrounding the 450SX class was centered on a championship leader who had yet to stand on the top step of the podium. That conversation ended Saturday night.
Hunter Lawrence, the steady Australian for Honda HRC Progressive, finally combined his trademark consistency with raw winning pace to secure his first-career premier class victory. By outlasting three of the sport’s heaviest hitters—Eli Tomac, Cooper Webb, and Ken Roczen—Lawrence did more than just “tick a box”; he solidified his status as the man to beat for the 2026 title.
The 450SX Main Event: A High-Stakes Chess Match
The 450SX Main Event began as a battle of veterans. Cooper Webb (Yamaha Star Racing) edged out Ken Roczen (Suzuki) for the holeshot, but Roczen quickly reclaimed the lead on the opening lap. While the two veterans sparred, Lawrence slotted into third, watching the lines and biding his time.
Meanwhile, Eli Tomac, fresh off a dominant win in Seattle, was forced to dig out of an 11th-place start. In a vintage display of “Tomac-speed,” the KTM rider sliced through the field, reaching fourth place within just two laps.
The Turning Point
With 13 minutes remaining, the top four riders were separated by less than two seconds. Lawrence moved past Webb into second and began a relentless pursuit of Roczen.
• The Struggle: Lawrence nearly pulled off the pass in the whoops with six minutes left but was momentarily held up by a lapped rider.
• The Execution: Moments later, Lawrence made the pass stick. As he checked out, the battle behind him turned chaotic. Tomac surged from fourth to second in a single sequence, forcing Webb off the track and briefly shuffling Roczen back into the podium fight.
Lawrence eventually crossed the finish line 2.8 seconds ahead of Tomac, marking his first win in 26 premier class starts—coincidentally in the same stadium where he took his first-ever 250SX win in 2021.

250SX East: Pierce Brown Grabs Maiden Victory
The night also kicked off the Eastern Regional 250SX Championship, and much like the 450 class, it produced a first-time winner.
Pierce Brown (Yamaha Star Racing) captured an emotional first career victory after a high-intensity battle with Jo Shimoda. Shimoda, making a remarkable return after recovering from fractured vertebrae suffered in November, took the holeshot and led early. However, Brown stayed aggressive and capitalized on a late-race mistake by Shimoda to take the checkered flag and the first red plate of the East Coast season.

Championship Standings (After Round 7 of 17)
Lawrence’s victory allowed him to extend his lead over Tomac to four points as the series heads into the halfway point.
What’s Next?
The 2026 tour now heads to the most unique stop on the calendar: the Daytona Supercross. With five different winners in seven races, the momentum is currently with Lawrence, but Tomac’s historic dominance at Daytona (seven career wins) makes the next round a potential turning point for the red plate.
