The 2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship hit the halfway mark at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama, for Round 10. In a night defined by a “tale of two halves” track—slick and dry on one side, soft and rutted on the other—Hunter Lawrence tightened his grip on the 450SX title, while the 250SX East/West Showdown ended in post-race controversy.

450SX: Lawrence Unstoppable as Tomac Recovers
Hunter Lawrence delivered what many are calling the best performance of his career. After Jorge Prado grabbed the holeshot, Lawrence wasted no time, seizing the lead on the opening lap and never looking back. He led all 25 laps to secure his second consecutive victory and his third in the last four rounds.
The Battle for the Podium
While Lawrence checked out, the drama unfolded behind him:
- Ken Roczen’s Charge: After a mid-pack start that saw him 12th on lap one, Roczen sliced through the field. By lap seven, he was in second and began clicking off the fastest laps of the race. Despite closing the gap to Lawrence, lapped traffic and a few minor mistakes forced him to settle for second.
- Eli Tomac’s Rough Night: Tomac’s evening was a “damage control” mission. A heat race collision with Justin Cooper sent the KTM rider to his first LCQ since 2019. Despite a terrible gate pick for the Main, Tomac salvaged a third-place finish but crossed the line a distant 30 seconds behind Lawrence.
- Jorge Prado’s Resiliency: After a massive crash in qualifying nearly ended his day, Prado took the holeshot and fought to a respectable 7th-place finish.

250SX East/West Showdown: Penalty Strips Deegan of Win
The first Showdown of the year provided the fireworks fans expected, but the final results were decided in the AMA tower. Haiden Deegan appeared to have extended his win streak to six after a clinical charge from 10th place to the lead, passing Jo Shimoda and Cole Davies in the closing laps.
However, the AMA docked Deegan one position for an illegal lane change in the split-lane section. This handed the official victory to the East Coast points leader, Cole Davies.

Key 250SX Moments:
The Showdown Shuffle: Levi Kitchen took the holeshot and led early, but the battle shifted to a three-way war between Davies, Shimoda, and Seth Hammaker.
Shimoda’s Late Slip: Jo Shimoda looked poised for a podium until a last-lap mistake caused him to spin out on the start straight, allowing Seth Hammaker to steal third.
Championship Impact: Despite the penalty, Deegan remains the dominant force in the West with a massive 42-point lead. Davies, meanwhile, extended his East Coast lead to 6 points over Hammaker.
