Mud, Sweat, and Trophies: Roczen and Davies Rule Philadelphia

The 15th round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship turned Lincoln Financial Field into a treacherous, rain-soaked battlefield. What started as a clear afternoon in Philly quickly shifted into a high-stakes “mudder” during the night show, shaking up the title hunts in both classes.

450 Class: Roczen Grabs the Red Plate

In a shortened 17-minute Main Event, the heavy hitters of the 450 class—Ken Roczen, Hunter Lawrence, and Cooper Webb—wasted no time getting to the front. While Lawrence grabbed the early holeshot, it was “Kickstart Kenny” who sliced into the lead just minutes in.

The turning point came at the nine-minute mark when Hunter Lawrence washed out while chasing Roczen. Though Lawrence remounted, he lost significant ground. Despite a desperate “full send” charge from Cooper Webb in the final laps, Roczen navigated the heavy lapped traffic with veteran composure to take his 28th career victory.

The Fallout: With his fifth win of the season, Ken Roczen officially takes over the championship lead. He now holds a four-point advantage over Lawrence as the series heads into the final two rounds.

250 East: Cole Davies Clinches the Crown

The night belonged to 18-year-old New Zealander Cole Davies. The 250 East Main Event was a story of survival and restarts. A red flag halted the race at the seven-minute mark, but the pause did nothing to break Davies’ concentration.

Home-state hero Seth Hammaker had a roller-coaster night, crashing while leading early, fighting back to the podium positions, and eventually settling for third after another late-race tip-over. Because Hammaker couldn’t secure second place, Davies’ victory was enough to mathematically clinch the 250 East Championship one round early.

Davies becomes the second Kiwi to win a Supercross title, joining his mentor Ben Townley. His win also marks a historic season for Yamaha, which has now swept both the East and West 250 crowns.

SMX Next: Deacon Denno Dominates

In the amateur ranks, Deacon Denno proved his Daytona win was no fluke. He grabbed a massive holeshot and led every single lap of the SMX Next Main Event, winning by over nine seconds. Denno becomes the first repeat winner of the series and the only rider to finish in the top five at every round this year.
